The Launch of Worldview Explorer: A New Way to See Ourselves

Updated: May 16

When I first started working on Worldview Explorer, the goal wasn’t just to build another personality quiz or political spectrum test. I wanted to create something deeper that helped people move beyond labels and better understand what truly drives their beliefs. I had spent a lot of time learning about, developing, and refining my worldview in my coursework and saw just how meaningful it was.

Honesty, “What party are you?” has become a poor substitute for the more interesting and important question, “What do you believe in?” That’s where Worldview Explorer comes in.

Built over months of design, research, and reflection, Worldview Explorer is now live. It is a platform created to help people better understand their values and guiding principles and how those connect to larger philosophical and historical traditions. It’s equal parts psychology, philosophy, and self-discovery.

🧠 Behind the Scenes

The tool's foundation is built on fundamental research: Moral Foundations Theory, Schwartz’s value dimensions, political psychology, and belief formation science. But I didn’t want this to feel academic or clinical. I wanted it to feel human. These values, such as empathy, fairness, loyalty, and autonomy, are things we live out daily, often without even realizing it.

So, I translated that theory into eight core value dimensions and built a quiz that maps where you stand along each one, not to judge or sort you, but to help you see yourself more clearly. But that's boring when you're just starting or an early adopter.

So, I added something I thought would be fun and meaningful: after you get your results, you see historical and contemporary figures, thinkers, artists, and leaders, whose worldviews align closely with yours. The goal isn’t to say, “You are like X,” but to invite reflection:

Why do I align with this person? What do they stand for? And what does that say about me?

🪞Why Worldview Explorer Matters

We’re in a moment when confrontation has replaced conversation, and labels are weaponized. Dialogue is reduced to division, and it becomes hard, if not impossible, to hear each other. I'm just as guilty of this as anyone else.

But values have the power to cut through that. When you ask someone what they believe in—not just politically but morally, personally, and philosophically—you create space for empathy, nuance, and maybe even connection.

Worldview Explorer isn’t about telling you what to think. It’s about giving you the tools to think more deeply, and maybe see yourself and others differently.

🚀 Try It Now

So I invite you to try it out, explore your values, and reflect on their origins. Share your results if you want, or sit with them briefly. Maybe even invite a friend to take it too, and compare where you align, and where you differ.

I built this tool to open doors, not close them, and to help us all shift the conversation from Who did you vote for? to What do you stand for?
